Reading the article in the International Herald Tribune this morning : http://www.iht.com/articles/2007/03/14/opinion/edockrent.php , I got very interested in discussing this topic as I read the first sentence: "Would things be different, would it be better with a women in charge?" I think that getting women into politics and in leadership positions is very important and it makes a difference for a more accepting and equal society. Sweden is one of the most equal countries in the world and a lot of research has been done to prove that policies and politics actually have changed with a more equal parliament. I am somewhat critical to these studies that are aiming at showing the differences with women in decision making. I believe that politics is to be formed by women and men together, it would be sad to see that bills passed in favour for women were initiated and supported by women only. Are there any female solutions or answers in politics? Secondly, why do we need to justify our presence in politics with proofs of being different and being better than men? Should the only reason voting for women be that we would expect women to do things differently? To get the same job as men we should simply be better than men, shouldn't it be enough to be just as "good" as them?
