What can we do to improve female representation in politics?

It’s no secret that women are vastly underrepresented at all levels of government, all across the world. In the UK, there are five women in David Cameron’s cabinet,out of 22 positions, and only 22% of MPs are women. The Global Gender Gap report, released by the World Economic Forum (WEF) in October, revealed the UK is 74th of 186 in terms of female representation in parliament; according to theFawcett Society’s Sex and Power report in 2013, only 32% of local councillors in England are women, and women make up just 12.3% of council leaders and 13.3% of elected mayors.
