Scottish women invited to take the step into politics

Source: Third force news

Hundreds of women aspiring for a career in politics will be gathering for a dynamic day at the Scottish Parliament tomorrow (Saturday 7 September).

The event has been put together by Scotland's Women Stand, a movement to support and empower women of Scotland to stand for political office.

The purpose of the gathering is for women to explore their paths to elected office and participation in democracy. Women of all ages, backgrounds and political affiliations are invited to be a part of positive change towards the goal of gender equal political representation.

Linda Fabiani, Deputy Presiding Officer of the Scottish Parliament, will be welcoming attendees into the debating chamber, to hear inspiring women share their stories of activism, campaigning and election, followed by a panel of elected women in conversation about their experiences of differing spheres of politics.
