Criteria for Affiliate Organizations
This type of organization includes institutions, networks and initiatives that agree to share with iKNOW Politics their resources and expertise on women’s political participation, co-host events and hold joint online activities. These organizations have a purpose that coincides with the mission and objectives of iKNOW Politics. This is an unofficial partnership that is in no way binding to either project, and will be customized depending on the nature of the organization. An affiliate organization may be asked to:
  • Include a link to iKNOW Politics on its website;
  • Include a link and/or graphic of a specific iKNOW Politics event, such as an E-Discussion Forum, on its website;
  • Provide iKNOW with copyrights to upload its resources on the iKNOW Politics library;
  • Distribute information about iKNOW Politics events among its target audiences through a listserv, website or any other available communication tool;
  • Share its experts for a specific iKNOW Politics event, such as E-Discussion Forum, or for creating a consolidated response;
  • Connect iKNOW Politics with its regional networks, branches and partners;
  • Invite iKNOW Politics to do presentations at its conferences, events and workshops;
  • Co-host events with iKNOW Politics at regional, national or local levels, include iKNOW Politics in its training sessions by using the iKNOW Politics platform, online resources, and expertise;
  • Suggest and connect iKNOW Politics with its regional and local experts and civil society organizations working on promoting women in politics;
  • Contribute resources that enhance regional and country pages in the form of case studies, statistics, sample materials, data and expertise;
  • Mobilize its experts and members, if available, to participate in iKNOW Politics’ online activities such as answering questions posted on the Ask the Experts section and contributing to E-Discussion Forums and Discussion Circles;
  • Through its institutional relationships, help iKNOW Politics connect with women leaders around the world for conducting interviews and inviting them to iKNOW Politics global events;
  • Include summaries of iKNOW Politics E-Discussion Forums and Expert Network Discussions in its website and printed publications;
  • Cooperate with iKNOW Politics to access audiences with little internet connectivity, by sharing platforms for new technologies and making computer equipment available to iKNOW Politics members;
  • Including iKNOW Politics in the content of in its own training courses;
  • Allow iKNOW Politics to link to its relevant online courses, databases and discussion platforms;
  • Facilitate translation of posts to iKNOW Politics online discussions from its own members.
  • iKNOW Politics can provide the following services to an affiliate organization:
  • Include a link to the linking organization on the iKNOW Politics site’s Linking Organizations page;
  • Include a link to the linking organization and a short write-up about it on the iKNOW Politics Library under the Databases/Websites section;
  • Post news and events about the organization’s activities;
  • Post information about petitions and campaigns of the organization;
  • Answer “Ask the Experts” queries from the organization and post as a consolidated reply on the iKNOW Politics site
  • iKNOW Politics can include links to the affiliate organization’s website on its Linking Organization page and Library;
  • Profile the affiliate organization’s events on the iKNOW Politics calendar;
  • Profile the affiliate organization’s news and updates on the iKNOW Politics News section, which will also be promoted to the front page;
  • Highlight the affiliate organization’s specific event or resource in the iKNOW Politics’ quarterly E-Newsletter;
  • iKNOW Politics can create Discussion Circles targeted to the interests of the affiliate organization. Discussion circles or threads may focus around a thematic issue or an event;
  • iKNOW Politics can create an RSS feed for a specific discussion circle to be placed on the affiliate organization’s site to instantaneously update its members with new postings on the circle;
  • iKNOW Politics can collaborate with the affiliate organization to create consolidated responses or expert opinions on specific questions relevant to women’s political participation. To collaborate, iKNOW Politics or the affiliate organization will post the question on the iKNOW Politics Ask the Experts section;
  • iKNOW Politics can provide a forum for Experts to exchange their views through an iKNOW Politics managed listserv or an online Experts platform. [Please note that it is planned to develop the online Experts platform by early next year.] Expert discussions can be held in English, French and/or Spanish and summary of the discussion will be posted on iKNOW Politics;
  • iKNOW Politics can assist in involving the regional offices of its partner organizations in regional, national or local events jointly held with the affiliate organization.
