The upcoming elections to the Constitutional Assembly in Ecuador provoked the desire for real participation of the citizens. Last week, the TRIBUNAL SUPREMO ELECTORAL, the head office of all parties, registered 130 new parties that wanted to get involved in the elections. The new parties still have to fulfill the requirement of getting at least 1% of signatures of all voters registered during the last elections (9 million Ecuadorians) until the changes are made to the Constitution. But do woman get the promised 50% quota seats? Who observes and presents the claims? We need more support and advice from the international organizations.
