Gender in Anti-corruption Strategies

Dear iKP Members,

Corruption affects men and women differently. Women are subjects and objects of different corrupt practices and behavior and therefore, their specific needs, roles and experiences need to be taken into consideration, particularly with the development of accountability, transparency and participatory mechanisms. In order to formulate effective interventions, it is important to look at women’s empowerment and its impact on corruption. We are currently researching the linkages between anti-corruption policies and gender relation. We would greatly appreciate if you can share with us

- Positive and successful experiences to empower women in successfully combating corruption, (during a political campaign, once the candidate is elected, particular role women caucuses can have)

- Obstacles and failures of such interventions but also how anti-corruption campaigns can have an impact on women's daily lives.

Thank you for sharing your views and experiences

Best

Diane
