Set Back in Women Empowerment Struggle in Nigeria
Recent events in Nigeria has cast dooubts over the ability of women to hold power and indeed make a difference in a male dominated politics, that is by and large not in the interests of the poor majority. Former minister of health and the respected professor of peadiatrics, Adenike Grange, has just 'resigned' on allegations of corruption and fraud. This is following the exit of the first female speaker over a very similar circumstance. At the heart of the ministry of health saga is an alleged 10 million naira given to the senate committee on health, again headed by a woman Iyabo Obasanjo. Such a crisis situation is one too many especially when expectations are so high to make the deisred difference. Though some people have said that the crisis they are facing is nothing compared to those perpetuated by men, but if the ratio of those in power is computed against those alleged to be corrupt, then it will be evident that we indeed have a problem.
What can we do to help the few women in power, remain focused on the issues and not be swept off by the spoils of the office?

Una lideresa carga la responsabilidad no sólo de ella misma, sino de toda mujer que sea designada en una posición clave en el futuro.

Only facts and figures to document the real situation can give a clear view on the issue. Persistance and determination will be needed to go through this rough patch. Twice as hard for a woman than for a man. It remains a global issue.

The main problem is that we work in a system and the system has advantages and desavantages. Sometimes, it not possible yourself to make a difference or to come with your rules to impose in the system. The system have rules.
To be in the system is means that to be conformed to the rules of system. If you are not able to do what the system want and it so difficult for you or it out of your moral, is good to leave, to “resign”.
In other case, someone don’t want to resign, they continue to work in the system but it difficult to us to respect rules. For this kind of person, the system will be punished them. Some strategies will be found like arrested…Is like Mafia you are in or you are out.
Its remains a global issues.

thanks for the comments. for any one who genuinely wants to make a change, he/she should first make a commitment on what is to be achieved, should understand the system they want to work in so that they can prepare themselves for the challenges of that environment.
