This paper describes UNIFEM’s work in empowering women in Afghanistan since early 2002. UNIFEM's activities aimed at supporting women’s leadership and participation in decision-making, strengthening the Ministry of Women’s Affairs in Afghanistan, and establishing women's Development Centers.
