Ms. Young holds a BA in political science and public administration and masters in educational systems, with a concentration in supervision and curricula. Specialist in sexual and reproductive health and competency-based training. Writer, poet, researcher, national and international consultant on gender issues, democracy, leadership, education and culture. Ms. Young is President of APARLEXPA and the Support Centre for Mistreated Women and Executive Director of the Panamanian Centre for Gender Studies and Competencies. She is also founder of the Initiative Group for Equality, which has recently seen major triumph in the passing of the Equality Law on September 23, 2010 by the National Electoral Reform Council.
Ms. Young represents the National Cultural Institute in the Panama National Writers Council.
She has designed, organised and set various activities in motion for training in gender, education, politics, leadership and culture. She is currently the academic director of the International Diploma in Electoral Strategies for Women, taught annually at the Latin University of Panama. She is also author of the book ‘¿Cómo ganar mi primera elección, siendo mujer? (How to Win My First Election as a Women), among others. She has been a federal legislator for two continuous terms from 1994 to 2004.
