SUMMARY OF DISCUSSION CIRCLE 2011:

The Discussion Circle on “Women in office” was initiated in 2007 and concluded in 2009. The members discussed on how women legislate or create policies differently than men.  Some of the key topics of discussion focused on the question of women's responsibility to attend specifically to the needs of women or women's issue.

This summary of the discussion circle is based on your contributions and we hope that if you find this interesting you would be interested in participating at the Discussion circle " Women's presence in Politics". To read the complete summary click here.

Increases in the number of women in elected office around the world provide an opportunity to look at the effects and obstacles of women in office, as well as to compare the differences between how women and men parliamentarians legislate. Do women legislate or create policies differently than men? Do women have a responsibility to attend specifically to the needs of women or women's issues? This is a place to discuss the role and the impact of women in parliament.
