Description: 

 Engaging women in conflict prevention, crisis management and post-conflict rehabilitation will be the topic of an OSCE conference.
The conference will provide a forum for government representatives, policymakers, civil society actors, as well non-governmental and international organizations to discuss how to improve the implementation of United Nations Security Council Resolution 1325 on the role of women in peace and security.
The conference is organized by the Gender Section of the OSCE Secretariat in co-operation with the OSCE Mission to Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Bosnia and Herzegovina: Women's rights still an uphill battle in Republika Srpska

Summary: 

Although guarantees exist on paper, non-compliance with the standards and principles of gender equality remain an obstacle for women in Republika Srpska, advocates say.  In RS (Republika Srpska), experts say, the most common forms of discrimination against women are domestic violence, violation of women's labour rights, and participation in public and political decision-making. In the new RS government, out of 16 ministries, five ministerial seats went to women -- a significant improvement from only two women ministers previously.

It also focuses on the attitudes of female and male citizens toward the work of the official institutions responsible for the implementation of Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action and Gender Equality Law in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Media and Gender Equality in Bosnia and Herzegovina

This report describes women's portrayal in media and their limited participation in the creation of media policies in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
