Violence Against Women, The Crime, Context and Concerns

This conference and exhibition will launch the 16 Days of Action against Violence against Women in Kerry. The exhibtion will also be brought to Dingle and Waterville in the ensuing weeks.
Speakers:
Don Hennessey, Cork Marriage Guidance will speak from his experience of working with perpetrators of the crime of domestic violence in the past ten years.
Linda O'Regan, University of London, will look at violence against women from a global context, and prostitution.
Kate Mulkerrins, Rape Crisis Network of Ireland, will be looking at sexual violence the Irish context, and current concerns.
Miriam O'Callaghan will also open the ‘In Her Shoes’ exhibition. This is an exhibition of 130 pairs of shoes, representing women and children who have died due to domestic violence in Ireland in the last ten years.
