Hungary occupies the penultimate place within the European Union in terms of the proportion of women among lawmakers, far behind other nations in the CEE region, national daily Nepszabadsag said on Saturday.
Citing lecturer Gabriella Ilonszki of Budapest’s Corvinus University, the paper said that women make up a mere 9.1 percent of Hungarian MPs while the corresponding proportion is 22 percent in the Czech Republic and 21 percent in Latvia.
