Australia: Where are the women MPs in the coronavirus crisis?

On Wednesday, a special sitting of Parliament will pass the third COVID-19 support package around wage subsidies. At this stage it’s not known exactly how many MPs will be at the sitting, although the minimum required is 31.

Most MPs present will be those who can travel to Canberra with relative ease - that is by car. But we make a stab in the dark that the make-up of this second special sitting will look in a lot like the first on 23 March when 87 MPs were present. That is, it will be male-dominated in terms of numbers, debate, and questions asked and answered.
