Botswana: Women empowerment still illusive

14 Mar 2012 - March 8 is marked as International Women’s Day. I wish to dedicate this piece to our women and discuss the thorny issue of women and politics.

Women have endured a lot of degradation, traditionally, politically and economically. While they make up nearly more than half of the world population, however, their involvement in formal political structures and processes, where decisions regarding the use of national resources generated by both men and women are made, remains trivial.
