International Symposium on Women's Political Participation, Yaoundé, Cameroon

The Cameroon Committee for Women's Human Rights, Institute de Formacion et de Cooperacion pour le Developpment (IFCD) and Human Rights Focus, in cooperation with UNIFEM are organizing an international symposium on women's political participation.
The symposium will be held in Yaoundé, Cameroon the 26, 27 and 28th of July 2007 at the Institute for International Relations at Youndé University II. It will include reserchers, male and female politicans, feminists, women involved in politics and civil society organizations from varous countries worldwide.
The symposium will discuss historical, social , as well as legal and institutional factors that influence women's political participation. It will also discuss experiences from around the world and the elaboration of electoral laws that enable women to be fully included in decision-making. The symposium will be held in French and English.
