Despite all the advancements women have made and the accomplishments they’ve achieved, she suggested more could be done to ensure they play an “even larger role” in society.
“The commendable goal is to create a greater opportunity for women as children and adults to pursue their hopes and dreams, to attain their goals, and to make best use of their talents and knowledge,” she said.

In the National Assembly, 3 members are nominated to the House to serve a 5-year term and 11 members are elected by popular vote to serve a 5-year term. Saint Kitts and Nevis has a two-party system, which means that there are two dominant political parties.
In August, 1998 a referendum was held in which a 62% majority of Nevisians voted for secession from the federation with St. Kitts; however, a two-thirds majority was required in order to make the split a reality.
