Election: Netherlands Antilles

The Netherlands Antilles elect a legislature. The Estates (Staten) have 22 members, elected for a four year term in three multi-seat constuencies and 2 single-seat constituencies. Executive power rests with a governor, and a prime minister heads an eight-member Cabinet. The governor is appointed for a six-year term by the monarch, and the prime minister and deputy prime minister are elected by the Staten for four-year terms.

It will likely be the country's last general election, as the Netherland Antilles will cease to exist as a country within the Kingdom of the Netherlands on 10 October 2010. To read further please visit NRC handelsblad.
