This report provides an overview of worldwide voter turnout statistics between 1945-2002 for parliamentary and presidential elections. It is based on the International IDEA database of elections, and examines voter turnout trends since 1945. It also provides a comparison between voter turnout and selected political, institutional and socio-economic factors that are often cited as determinants of differing voter turnout rates.
