Economics or Politics: Which Drives Women’s Empowerment?

Please direct any questions to Erin Douse at edouse@ndi.org

The National Democratic Institute and The World Bank Group's Women, Business and the Law present a spirited debate Economics or Politics: Which Drives Women’s Empowerment?

Gender equality is driving development policies worldwide. But what’s the best route to equality?  Does women’s participation in politics lead to better financial outcomes, or is economic empowerment the path to equal representation in politics, and ultimately, better policies for all? Either side can be successfully argued as the primary driver of gender equality.  This debate will bring together political and economic experts to discuss this question of paramount importance to the post-2015 development agenda.

Moderator and Panelists TBD.
