Women leaders for Generation Equality: A virtual intergenerational dialogue on how diverse leadership can change the world for gender equality

Within the rubric of the Generation Equality campaign and the Generation Equality Forum, the Government of Mexico, UN Women, and the Council of Women World Leaders are organizing a virtual intergenerational dialogue on how diverse leadership can change the world for gender equality. The event will bring together high-level leaders with young leaders from different parts of the world to focus on the importance of inclusive leadership and the change it can bring for all girls and women.

The discussion will allow women leaders to share their approaches, lessons learned, and experiences from before and during the COVID-19 outbreak, to speak about the value of women’s leadership and address the conditions needed for women to participate in decision-making as well as ensuring the younger generation share their recommendations and reflections.

The discussion will be moderated by Victoria Budson, Founding Executive Director of the Women and Public Policy Programme at the Harvard Kennedy School of Government. Participants include UN Women Executive Director Phumzile Mlambo-Ngcuka; Prime Minister of Iceland and Chair of the Council of Women World Leaders Katrín Jakobsdóttir; Minister of Interior of Mexico Olga Sánchez Cordero; Women, Peace and Security Activist Hajer Sharief; and Founder of the #MeToo Movement Tarana Burke.

The event will be webcast on UN Web TV.
