Source:

New UN Women – UNDP publication on “Inclusive processes: A Guide for Electoral Management Bodies on Promoting Gender Equality and Women’s Participation

Jointly produced by UNDP and UN Women, this Guide focuses attention on the role of electoral management bodies (EMBs) in encouraging the participation of women throughout the electoral cycle.

Divided in two parts, the Guide proposes strategies to mainstream gender equality within the organizational structure of EMBs and throughout the organization and administration of elections.

It is rich with concrete examples of steps that can be taken to remove barriers that continue to affect women’s participation in electoral processes, and provides ample illustration of innovative programming through which UNDP and UN Women will continue to support women’s political empowerment.
