Women have been dominating the poles of villagers committee elections in most regions throughout China since the onset of the new year.
From the local level to the global level, women's participation in politics and organizational leadership have long faced many obstacles and hurdles in what have been areas of almost complete male exclusivity. Women are underrepresented as voters, political leaders and elected officials. China is no exception but has seen a sharp increase in women's political participation in basic-level leadership.
