448 women candidates contesting elections on general seats, Pakistan

LAHORE: As many as 147 women are contesting election 2013 in 105 National Assembly and 301 women in 203 provincial assembly constituencies on general seats. As per data compiled by a research based organization and released by Aazar Ayaz, Executive Director TR to Media here on Monday shows that 90 women candidates are contesting elections in 66 constituencies in Punjab. In Sindh, 37 women are in the run for 24 provincial assembly seats, 14 women for 10 KP seats in Khyber Pakhtunkhawa, 3 women for 3 provincial assembly seats of Balochistan, 2 women for 1 Punjab Assembly seat in Islamabad, while a woman in FATA is contesting election for one FATA seat. This makes total of 147 women for 105 seats.
