Source: Menafn

In a statement on Friday, the Ambassador of the European Union (EU) to Libya and the Ambassadors of EU Member States accredited to Libya reiterated their aid for the country's "full and meaningful inclusion and participation of women in the peace process."

The declaration, that also criticized all aspects of gender-based violence, took place on the 20th anniversary of Resolution 1325 of the UN Security Council on Women, Peace and Security.

Women have indeed been targeted, harassed, kidnapped, sexually abused and killed in Libya, the statement stated, predicting that nearly 200,000 girls and women have been relocated, approximately 18,000 women and girls have been confirmed as refugees and asylum seekers, and thousands of women migrants remain permanently threatened with mistreatment.
