Halima Yacob became the first woman and the 9th Speaker of Singapore Parliament on 14 January 2013.

 

Halimah Yacob, is a 58-year-old Indian lady born in Singapore. She has been in politics previously as Ministry of Community Development, Youth and Sports -21 May 2011 – 31 October 2012-, and Ministry of Social and Family Development -1 November 2012 – 13 January 2013.
