Female lawmakers have voiced their concerns about glaring absence of women in key leadership positions within political parties.

Insecurity has been identified as one of the contributing factors that makes women shy away from seeking leadership and other political positions.

“I faced so much violence on Facebook”, she said. “I am separated from my husband, so people could say unimaginable things using [pseudonymous] accounts, to me and my family. It was just chaotic.”
