The daughter of South Korea's former dictator Park Chung-hee has made history after she was inaugurated as the country's first woman president.

Park Geun-hye, 60, defeated her liberal rival Moon Jae-in back in December.

She has witnessed some of South Korea's most turbulent times from her home inside the presidential Blue House, as Lucy Williamson reports.

Jasmine Lee, she was supported by the Grand National Party for a seat on the Seoul Metropolitan Council, “but I wasn’t included in the final list.” “Although I didn’t get a chance this time, it really sparked my interest in politics,” she said. Just the fact that an immigrant woman could participate in Korean politics has inspired many others like Jasmine. And with that inspiration, support for her has grown.
